Page sizes

We allow you to use all major standard page formats for the page size of your PDF. These are listed in the table below, with their corresponding dimensions. In case you have a business license then you will be able to use custom dimensions as well. Please continue reading after the table for that.

Of course you can choose whether you want to use these page sizes in portrait or landscape orientation as well.

Custom page dimensions and/or single page PDFs

If you subscribed to a business license you will have access to the PDF creation API as well as the save as PDF functionality. Both these services allow you to specify the page dimensions in the exact size you want and/or force the PDF to be generated as a single long one page document.

You can do this by using the following three parameters.

width: width of the PDF in unit
height: height of the PDF in unit
If you do not specify a height, but DO specify a width, then we'll create one long single page PDF.
unit: dimension for measurements, this can be mm (millimeters), in (inches) or pt (points).
By default we assume millimeters.

Width and height can both be specified with decimals as long as you use the point (.) to do so. So for example 12.45 is a valid value.

Page numbering

Now that you've paginated your PDF properly, you may also want to number these pages. If you signed up for a browser or business license, then you'll be able to do that in the header or footer. How this works is described in the section on headers and footers.

Page breaking

Our conversion engine will automatically break up web pages according to the page size, unless you force a single long PDF (see instructions on the left hand side of the page for this).

If you want to have more control over this, then you can use the following CSS options:

page-break-after: always to force a page break after an element
page-break-inside: avoid to avoid page breaking inside block elements

Here's an example how you could use page-break-after: always:

By using CSS like the above you have more control over page breaking and you will be much more flexible in the layout of your PDF documents.
